EcoVadis Sustainability Ratings

Caldic Group scores GOLD in EcoVadis!

EcoVadis, the global sustainability ratings provider, has awarded Caldic Group a GOLD rating after evaluating us on their comprehensive criteria. We are now in the top 3% of the assessed companies.

A trusted global provider of business sustainability ratings, EcoVadis' assessment evaluates 21 sustainability criteria across Environment, Labor & Human Rights, Ethics and Sustainable Procurement.

Striking GOLD

As of June 2023, the Caldic Group has completed its assessment by EcoVadis, and received a gold medal for our efforts to implement policies and measures to improve our practices in the domains of labor & human rights, environment, ethics, and sustainable procurement. The EcoVadis business sustainability ratings are based on international sustainability standards such as the UN Sustainable Development Goals, the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact, the International Labor Organization (ILO) conventions, the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards, and several ISO standards.

Our commitment to realizing our ESG agenda of having sustainable management practices across our operations is also manifested through our multiple evaluations. Unlike other assessed businesses, Caldic is evaluated at both the global corporate level as well as the local level. We aim to achieve a gold rating for all our entities by 2023 and platinum by 2025. So far, eight of our local entities – Panama, USA, Italy, New Zealand, Peru, Ingredients Germany, Mr. Malt® – P.A.B. S.r.l., and Brazil have received platinum status!

The assessment takes place across several indicators divided into four categories: environment, labor & human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement. Caldic received the highest score in Environment with a 90 and an overall score of 73. The breakdown of the scores and categories can be found below:

The Road Ahead

As we aim for platinum status, we call on our principals and customers to join us in improving our operations so that we can contribute to building a better working environment and society.

In keeping with our intention to be transparent with our sustainability practices across our value chain, we have outlined an action plan to improve our performance in the assessed areas.

While we persist in our efforts to reduce our energy, waste, and water consumption, and our emissions – we will also improve our reporting on these topics. Including Scope 3 emissions in our reporting will provide an insight into the indirect emissions caused by our value chain, enabling us to reduce our end-to-end emissions. To this end, we also aim to strengthen our collaboration with our business partners to step up our sustainability efforts. Furthermore, we shall advance in our implementation of our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion policy, and ensure our colleagues uphold our strong sense of compliance and business integrity.
