One of our key customers, a renowned global company in the coatings market present in 150 countries, was grappling with this potential pitfall when they set out a plan to streamline their supplier base in Southeast Asia. The region represented a high-growth opportunity, but supplier management was a drain on time and resources. 

Partnerships are meant to simplify processes 

Having identified a preferred supplier, the customer’s next concern was finding a trusted distribution partner with global reach and deep regional expertise. Scale was not everything; they also sought a partner with proven sustainability credentials and the ability to adapt to evolving needs.

The customer's focus markets were Vietnam and Indonesia, where Caldic has an established presence with advanced technical capabilities and local market knowledge. In addition, our operations in both countries are accredited Gold EcoVadis organizations. Caldic conducts an individual sustainability assessment for each local entity, not just at the group level. 

A three-party model including the supplier 

The customer was looking for end-to-end support, starting with raw material testing and benchmarking through to formulation customization and market-specific distribution. This meant that the partnership extended to the selected supplier, too. 

It did not take long for the Caldic team to forge a productive bond with its counterpart on the supplier side. Together, they devised a supply plan that addressed the manufacturer's specific needs.

This new partnership supports the customer’s immediate goals in Vietnam and Indonesia. However, it also lays the groundwork for future expansion across the Asia-Pacific region.
