Product development in personal care starts with customized solutions

Our application labs in Manila were stacked with colorful jelly soaps. They were freshly made by visiting guests from our co-manufacturer partners, attending one of our Innovation Days. 

Caldic Philippines hosted the exclusive event to introduce them to a new line of carrageenan texturizers developed by Cargill Beauty. As consumer demand for nature-based products grows, hair and skin care manufacturers are looking for viable alternatives to synthetic ingredients. 

Custom solutions for smooth product development 

Eager to share insights and technical possibilities, the Caldic commercial and R&D teams at our Manila office welcomed the co-manufacturers to try out the carrageenan solutions hands-on. Our formulation experts prepared a range of prototypes, including hand soaps, body wash and body butters. 

The participants experimented with different formats and recipes, testing the adaptability of carrageenan technology. “We opened our application labs so our partners could experience the product first-hand,” explains Maricar Lopez, Business Manager and event organizer. 

With our fully-equipped labs at their disposal and assisted by our formulation specialists, the participants were able to see how the bio-derived texturizers performed in real-life applications. Maricar says that our technical capabilities set Caldic apart: “We do not simply distribute ingredients. We customize them according to the customer’s exact formulation specifications.”

Technical solutions founded on deep market insight 

The Innovation Day program included a deep dive into product and market insights. Personal Care experts from Caldic and Cargill Beauty shared intelligence and advice on the latest trends. 

“Our goal is to enable partners to fulfill their strategic decisions,” says Maricar. “We have a broad portfolio of quality products, but the most critical question is what the customer wants to achieve.” 

During the information session, participants gained a deeper understanding of current market demands and the latest innovations in product development. It provided an enriching forum for attendees to discuss challenges and opportunities specific to co-manufacturing. 

For Maricar it was another successful Innovation Day, strengthening the connection between the supplier and producers: "Collaboration on real-world applications is the main driver of product development.” 

Inspired by Cargill Beauty’s solutions and Caldic’s value-adding capabilities, many have already requested samples for their upcoming projects.
