How Caldic helped Ajinomoto launch a new hair care line

Co-creation is our strength  

“Brazil is one of the largest and most competitive hair care markets in the world and this is where our principal supplier Ajinomoto, a leading player in amino acid-based ingredients for hair care, approached us with a significant customer challenge,” begins Renata Barnabé, Head of Business Unit, Pharma, who was closely involved in the project. “The customer was in search of a sustainable solution that was not only cost-effective but also maintained performance, even at low dosages. That’s not an easy balance to strike, but it’s exactly the kind of challenge we specialize in.” 

Renata described how our approach to providing customized solutions played a central role in the project. “It’s at the heart of what we do: working closely with our partners to tailor solutions that meet very specific needs. That meant our sales and technical teams had to dive deep into their formulations and prototypes, looking at everything from cost impacts to market trends, and conducting performance and efficacy assessments.” 

According to Renata, this wasn’t a quick or easy task. “This is a detailed, sometimes tedious process, but it’s where we truly add value. Our strength lies not just in our product expertise, but in how we manage our relationships - with both principals and customers - to make sure we’re promoting the right benefits of each product.” 

A symbiotic success 

Throughout the collaboration and co-creation, we maintained close communication with Ajinomoto, providing technical input and strategic insights. “This wasn’t just about providing ingredients,” she noted. “It was about partnering with them through every stage of development. That close interaction allowed us to co-develop the formulations of four new hair care products that checked all boxes identified by the customer.” 

The collaboration resulted in a successful launch of a complete product range that meets all sustainability, cost-efficiency, and performance requirements.
