Understanding the challenge

Giada Zappalà, Business Development Manager Plastics and Rubber – Caldic Europe, reflects on a project’s success, brought about by strategic collaboration, customer access, and shared values.

The initiative, she explains, was driven by a clear objective: to improve product accessibility across the European market while aligning with broader environmental goals. “Sustainability is one of the key business principles at Caldic,” Giada notes. “At the same time, we recognize that thermoplastic polymers are essential in industries like electronics and automotive. The challenge is to offer product solutions that don’t compromise on performance while minimizing environmental impact.”

Building a hub

The collaboration with INEOS Styrolutions reflects this balance. Together, we launched a distribution initiative focused on polymer modifiers that enhance processing efficiency and improve end-product properties. “INEOS Styrolutions shares our sustainability ambitions,” she explains. “We work together to reduce the environmental impact of plastic solutions -achieving lower energy requirements in applications and contributing to reduced emissions.”

But beyond performance and sustainability, access was critical. “It was of prime importance that this versatile range of products was readily available and accessible to our customers,” she says.

In less than a year, Caldic delivered on that goal by establishing a centralized hub that now stocks the entire INEOS Styrolutions polymer modifier portfolio, including all new powder grades. “We moved quickly to ensure not only availability, but also awareness,” Giada adds. “Customers needed to understand the breadth of capabilities these products offered.”

A resounding success

“We designed it as a platform for commercial sales, yes, but also for sampling and trials. Our technical specialists are involved throughout, helping customers test and validate the materials in real-world applications.”

Giada states that the project is a prime example of Caldic's customer-first mindset and long-term vision. “It’s about anticipating market needs, partnering with the right companies, and building the infrastructure to deliver value responsibly and reliably.”
