Fighting food waste with Dadex

A natural preservative 

Isabelle Tremblay, Director of Product Management, speaks with conviction on the benefits of Caldic’s antioxidant solution, Dadex®, which aids in preserving food and cutting down waste. “Current food industry trends indicate a shift toward the use of antioxidants from natural sources to achieve a longer shelf life,” she begins, “with our innovative antioxidant solutions, natural microbial control systems, and various preservatives, we’re able to help customers extend the shelf life of their food products, and, therefore, limit the amount of waste.” 

Food waste is a global issue, and Isabelle emphasizes our commitment to being part of the solution through the Dadex product range. She points to a sobering statistic: “The United Nations estimates that a third of all food produced globally is wasted. That’s why they’ve set a goal to halve that number by 2030. It's an ambitious target, and it requires every part of the food chain, from farm to fork, to contribute.” 

A continuous process

Dadex antioxidant solutions prove useful at food consumption level. “Extending shelf life is one of the most effective ways to combat food waste,” Isabelle explains. “We started developing the Dadex range of antioxidants in North America years ago. Since then, we've continued refining our formulations, which are now recognized as leading solutions in the food, pet food, and aquaculture industries. We want to support customers with solutions that truly make a difference.” 

Over time, the range has grown considerably. A mix of scientific curiosity and purpose motivates our technical teams to innovate “We’ve built out a comprehensive line of natural antioxidants using tocopherols, rosemary, green tea, lecithin, and more. These are all naturally occurring antioxidants. Today, we offer more than 80 solutions to tackle the most complex antioxidant challenges,” she says.
