An offbeat solution
Rather than accept the conventional method, Albert and the expert pharma team explored a different route: one built around precision and containment. “Together with the customer, we co-developed a packaging concept using stainless steel intermediate bulk containers, or IBCs. What set this solution apart was the use of a dry-break coupling system,” he explains. The system is specially designed for hoses and suction lines and is proven effective in ensuring protection for workers and for the environment.
The innovation lay not just in the containers themselves, but in how they were deployed. “By injecting nitrogen into the IBC, we could push the solvent into the customer’s tank without any open-air transfer. It’s a completely closed system that effectively eliminates contamination risk,” he says.
For the customer, the results were not just technical, they were strategic. The new system safeguarded product quality, but more importantly, it built confidence. The project stands as a testament to Caldic’s agility in high-stakes environments.
