Caldic LATAM’s Logistica Verde initiative is redefining what it means to drive for a living. The program not only promotes environmentally friendly transportation but also champions equal employment opportunities, hiring drivers from disadvantaged backgrounds. For Fernanda, who joined the company recently, the experience has been both empowering and uplifting.
“Working as a driver is a real passion,” she begins, “The steering wheel, being there, feeling it, it’s a surreal feeling. I feel strong, powerful. I don’t know, it’s very magical.”
She acknowledges that the financial aspect is important, but it’s the enjoyment of the work that keeps her energized. “I’m not going to be a hypocrite and say ‘Oh, money doesn’t suit me.’ That would be a lie. I need the money. But it’s something I do with so much pleasure that it’s not tiring. I enjoy doing it.”
and politeness. “I particularly like the manners,” she explains. “People treating each other with respect, the politeness - the good morning, good afternoon, good evening. These little things might mean nothing to many people, but for me, they are crucial. Arriving and receiving a good morning is very nice. You start the day as if everyone were sending you good energy.”
That mutual respect, she notes, extends to all levels of the company. “It’s not just limited to people in senior positions, but in smaller roles too, like the cleaners, the janitors. The people who load the trucks - they’re very polite. This courteous behavior makes us want to keep going.”
That positivity, she says, transforms her workdays. “You don’t think, ‘Wow, I’m going to work for that company, how boring.’ On the contrary, it’s a good feeling. You get up excited, have a shower, come in singing, arrive smiling and leave smiling.”
For Fernanda, Caldic LATAM’s Logistica Verde initiative is about more than sustainability -it’s about dignity, connection, and starting each day with purpose.
