Welcome to Caldic Nordic’s all-new Food Innovation Center!

The recently inaugurated Food Innovation Center in Malmö, Sweden, is a cutting-edge facility with dedicated application laboratories and custom production for a broad range of food, nutrition, and beverage ingredients. The facility will serve as the home base for the Caldic Nordic team.

A center of excellence

The application laboratories are fitted with advanced equipment, which, in combination with Caldic’s technical specialists - experts in formulations and new product development - who have access to a comprehensive ingredients portfolio from a wide range of suppliers, makes us exceptionally well-placed to co-create enhanced product formulations and solutions that accelerate our customers’ speed to market. Furthermore, the state-of-the-art production capabilities enable us to deliver custom liquid and powder blends and packed products that reduce complexity and make high-quality products production-ready.

The new Malmö site spans 10,000 m2, with one half dedicated to production and warehousing, accommodating up to 3,000 pallet spaces. The facility also comprises 350 m2 of laboratories for new product development, sample production, and application work across key expert areas, including bakery, dairy, ice cream, savory, nutrition, beverage, and confectionery. These new facilities bring the number of centers of excellence in Europe to a total of 22, strengthening Caldic’s New Product Development (NPD) and formulation expertise and enabling it to deliver high-quality solutions to customers and suppliers.

Sustainable and efficient workspace

The new site has been awarded the "Miljöbyggnad Guld" certification – the highest preliminary sustainability accreditation granted by the Swedish Green Building Council. Bio-gas boilers provide water heating, and renewable solar energy contributes to the facility’s power supply. A 50% reduction in total energy consumption has been accomplished compared to the cumulative energy usage of Caldic’s previous sites in the Nordics. It has also successfully completed the ISO 22000 audit for distribution, FSSC 22000 audit for powder production, and obtained an Organic certification. The design and operations of the center reflect Caldic’s commitment to environmental responsibility.

The Food Innovation Center marks a major milestone in the consolidation of our Nordic organization and lays a strong foundation for future growth in Europe,” said Steven Terwindt, Group CEO. “By uniting our Nordic teams under one roof built to the highest sustainability standards, we are fostering collaboration in a modern environment where our people, suppliers, and principals can co-create solutions and shape the future of food innovation - sparking what’s next in healthier and more sustainable living.”
