Buyer (Raw Materials and Packaging)
Position function: Reporting to the Procurement Director for Caldic Canada Inc., the Buyer will have ownership of purchasing responsibility for raw materials and packaging within specific product groups.
Scope: This position focuses on Procurement; including sourcing, negotiation, contracting and strategic management to ensure cost effective supply of raw materials, packaging and other ingredients needed to achieve customer satisfaction. The individual will work closely with Senior Management to continually evaluate and improve cost savings, inventory and vendor relationships.
MAJOR TASKS AND DUTIES:
Manage assigned portfolio of product groups and suppliers
Responsible to develop and improve procurement cost savings and build and maintain vendor relationships
Developing and maintaining professional relationships and networks with internal customers, suppliers and other procurement organizations
Working closely with vendors, Senior Management and internal customers to understand the market and ensure we maintain a competitive advantage within the assigned portfolio
Periodically review and evaluate vendor performance and product quality. Provide feedback to vendors and Senior Management in order to influence high performance in vendor relationships
Gaining market insight, translating relevant trends into sourcing objectives and generating an actionable strategic business plan
Working with the Replenishment Team to ensure product is available based on customer and internal needs
Responsible for overseeing interactions with all Partners/Vendors including maintaining good working relationships
Lead continuous improvement activities to optimize the supply of materials in an efficient manner
Create and sustain a Procurement environment that delivers double digit growth enthusiastically
Accountable for Procurement targets relating to the overall business strategies
Respect the health and safety policies and programs within the company by working in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, safe work practices and procedures established by Caldic.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Post-Secondary Education in Business Admin or related field
Must have 5-7 years’ experience in Procurement or Supply chain management
Knowledge of Supply Chain/Inventory Management
Must have advanced computer skills (Excel, Outlook)
Must have strong interpersonal and negotiation skills
Must have strong organization skills
Must have strong communication (verbal and written) skills
