An energetic boost to our food business

The food team of Caldic LATAM was in for a treat when they were awarded Excellent Distributor 2024 by Ensign - a leading supplier of citric acid, a key ingredient for food & beverage. This accomplishment is significant for the team that has been working hard to expand our presence in the food market in Latin America.

Category Manager Breno Braga explains how our teams met with Ensign to establish a relationship through our shared growth ambitions.

“We first approached them face to face in a food summit organized by Caldic in Shanghai to support our expansion in the life science markets in Latin America. Coincidentally, they were looking to do the same,” begins Breno. “We realized that partnering with them would help us build a solid foundation for our growth strategy with our existing customers, and play a key role in developing our value-added solutions in the beverage segment.”

With a clear joint vision on the exciting business opportunities, the team was quick to define the common commercial agenda. Citric acid was offered as part of our consolidated portfolio and delivered to eight countries in the Latin America region. The latter required arduous efforts as the volumes varied across the countries. A seamless workflow and in-time delivery led to a significant increase in our volume of sales, resulting in the award.


“This award is a reflection of the passion and care we have in understanding the needs of our customers and principals and our finesse in resolving their challenges,” Breno says. “Keeping track of customer trends and being in tune with them is the reason behind our excellence in service.”

“Crucial to our success also is the synergistic relationship we have built with our colleagues in  China, who used their regional expertise and reached out to local suppliers, eventually helping us to engage with Ensign. A clear showcase of how our business partners can benefit from our global scale and worldwide sourcing capabilities.”

Breno is positive about the future. The team will continue to target the beverage spaces – and explore new clusters with great potential to promote Ensign’s products and grow our business together.
