Our affinity for innovation allowed us to identify a new market for Evonik’s product line.
Challenge

We are constantly working to find avenues of improvement and innovation in existing products as well as opportunities to develop and expand markets for our principals. We identified our customer's need for a more durable paint coating for road markings – enduring longer work periods and shorter maintenance repair breaks, while also being eco-friendly. We approached our principal Evonik to work together to resolve the customer’s challenge.

Solution

Guided by the customer’s requirements, our technical team carried out a study of our portfolio and suggested the possibility of using a water-based epoxy system for this application. After presenting the proposal to the client, we took the project to our principal Evonik, which supplies curing agents for epoxy systems, who promptly began working on the project. The customer subsequently worked on the formulation and was able to gain official approval for this new technology with the highway concessionaire. The resulting innovative durable product line emits less volatile organic compounds (VOC), thereby providing a safer workplace. But most importantly, our efforts led to the creation of an entirely new market opening up plenty of new opportunities.
