Caldic - with its headquarters at Rotterdam, the Netherlands
- was founded in 1970 as a classic type of chemical
trading company. Soon after the company evolved to a
prominent player in the field of chemical distribution
and related logistic services. A major part of this
evolution was realized by autonomous growth and the
ability to meet the industry's emerging need of adequate
distribution facilities. Surely as important for its
present status was the early decision of Caldic to boost
its growth through strategic acquisitions of smaller
and middle-sized European distributors. In this way
it pursued a twofold object: a substantial enlargement
of its product and services portfolio and a well-spread
geographical coverage of the European market. At the
same time this expansion was not only restricted to
the acquiring of mere chemical products, but also purposively
aimed to other contributing segments like food ingredients
and technical products (meanwhile Caldic is an expert
in power transmission systems, energy alternators and
thermal and acoustic insulation technologies).
Nowadays Caldic is a versatile, multinational enterprise
with a turnover of nearly Euro 500 million and a staff
of over 800 people. It is in the top 5 league of European
distributors, present in 8 countries with a total of
25 sales offices, distribution centres, warehouses and
production sites.
Caldic as a group of companies is still relatively young.
But many of its affiliates lodge an accumulated experience
of more than a century. From this synthesis of youth
and experience Caldic derives its flexibility and dynamics
together with its ambition of quality, accuracy and
care.
