QHSE

Our commitment to Quality, Health, Safety and the Environment

We help protect the planet by embracing the principles of sustainability, and designing products, services, and processes with these in mind.

At Caldic, we are committed to operating in accordance with the highest global standards of Quality, Health, Safety and Environment (QHSE) across all our entities worldwide. We care to actively engage with these subjects, so as to create a better future for everyone.

Extensive Health and Safety programs

We believe that the health and safety of our employees is of the utmost importance. We strive to provide a safe and healthy working environment for all our people and have therefore implemented extensive Health and Safety programs. The Safety program focuses on people, processes, and tools to steer performance improvements and to ensure we meet or even exceed all regulations and standards. Regular ‘Safety Awareness’ trainings provide a solid foundation, and most importantly, mindset, to avoid the occurrence of Lost Time Incidents (LTIs) at work. To promote mental and physical well-being local health-oriented initiatives such as ‘Vitality Week’ are introduced to deliver activities and facilities our employees can benefit from. These programs are designed to ensure a workplace where our employees can work safely and where their well-being is put center stage.

Quality Management Systems

Quality is also at the forefront of our minds, and we strive to meet and even exceed the latest local and global quality  standards by having Quality Management Systems (QMS) in place at entity level, which are regularly audited by internationally accredited third parties. Our QMS meets international recognized standards as ISO, SQF, BRC and others. We have also implemented a QHSE reporting system that allows us to identify and address not only health & safety issues but also product -related issues along the entire supply chain, enabling us to consistently meet or even outperform quality requirements.

Above all, we are committed to protecting the environment and reducing our impact on it. We help protect the planet by embracing the principles of sustainability, and designing products, services, and processes with these in mind. Put in practice, this means making an active push towards using as much renewable electricity as possible, with more than 70% share of renewables consumed across all our sites worldwide. Some of the Caldic locations already rely entirely on 100% renewable electricity.

EcoVadis

Our commitment to Quality, Health, Safety and the Environment and our improvements in these pillars is expressed by our target for the EcoVadis ranking. The global Caldic Group has a gold medal, while the local entities Caldic Panama, USA, Italy, New Zealand, Peru, Ingredients Germany and Mr. Malt® - P.A.B. S.r.l. and  Brazil currently have a platinum medal in the EcoVadis sustainability ratings. We strive to achieve an EcoVadis platinum rating for all our sites by 2026, which means we will continue to make significant strides in reducing our energy consumption and transport emissions, taking part in recycling programs, driving sustainable packaging and expanding our portfolio of products with a lower carbon footprint.

By implementing robust QHSE systems and processes, and actively engaging with the subject, we aim to keep 'quality', 'health', 'safety' and 'environment' at the forefront of everybody’s mind, leading to a better future for all our employees, business partners, the communities in which we operate as well as for our planet.
