Technical Sales Manager

As a Technical Sales Manager you will be responsible for the development of commercial and technical activities mostly by managing your own accounts & product portfolio. You will maintain close contact with existing customers, and look for further customer expansion within your target market segment. You should be familiar with the entire process of purchasing, sales, logistics, technical and marketing functions being an important link between our customers and suppliers. The candidate that we are looking for has both a commercial and technical (food science) skillset, and has an entrepreneurial approach to business. You will be familiar with new product development and have a patient and thorough approach. You will be responsible for partnering customers development teams with their latest product launches, offering proactive solutions to market trends and looking for alternative supply opportunities within your customer base. Reporting to the Managing Director, the role entails account management, new business development and some technical documentation for a range of ingredients supplied into the food manufacturing industry.
Your personality can be described as enterprising, enthusiastic and energetic. You will need to have a strong commercial understanding along with a good technical background in order to uncover and develop opportunities. Your method is characterised as solution-oriented, and you have strong analytical and communication skills. You will act as a full partner for your relationships with customers and colleagues. In addition, you will need to have:
- Bachelors degree in food technology, food science or suitable work experience in the food manufacturing industry
- Experience in a commercial environment
- The willingness to travel nationally, but based in Auckland
- A good knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel and Word
